Slight Back Pain

Slight Back Pain

Hey there. I'm new to this forum. I'm 29 yrs old. Just started Oly lifting a few months ago. In the beginning due to my previous training style my range of motion and flexibility was may biggest challenge. I was severely inflexible for the last 10 years. This is nearly taken care of but I'm finding that I have slight low back pain. I don't even know if i can describe it as pain, it may be more of an itchy feeling or very light burn. It is not all of the time. I am wondering that because I have increase my flexibility so dramatically so quickly that my tendon's and ligaments now need to get used to that range of motion. I remember when I started I had a lot of pain in my shoulders and hips which has all disappeared. Because it is my low back i am being very careful with my lifts and only lifting when the sensation is slight. It never bothers me while lifting, more first thing in the morning and after a lift.

Any idea's?

Re: Slight Back Pain

I believe I may have an idea. After testing a few muscular weaknesses I have noticed that my abs have become significantly weak as I have been spending a lot of time on my posterior chain. Due to the abs being almost the breaking mechanism for the hip extension perhaps the strength of my posterior chain and the weakness in my abs are causing too much over extension in both the clean and snatch.

Any thoughts?
