Welcome to the California Strength Forum
Hey guys, I am a beginner at the Olympics Lifts, but can do them decently, with probably average form. I am looking to start not just using Olympic lifts as supplemental exercises but move to doing them full time. So basically I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a solid program for a beginner?
Current Stats (LBS):
BW: 162
Snatch: 135
C&J: 205
Full Olympic Squat: ???
Low-bar below parallel squat: 325
Deadlift: 385
Press: 175
Also I don't have jerk boxes unfortunately. Any help would be great! Thank you.
EDIT: Just found this; http://www.catalystathletics.com/articl … icleID=131 would this be solid for a 4 week started? If so what comes after this? Thanks.
Hey shane, the best thing to do is just do the lifts. I remember when i first started Olympic lifting i started out doing the olympic lifts as supplemental lifts after my strength workouts. After a while i was having a hard time improving my technique on the lifts and it was because i was not doing them enough. AS soon as i made the lifts themselves the workouts everything got much more solid. This what my coach outlined for me - Front Squat, snatch, clean and jerk, front squat. Simple, bulgarian like approach. This is what he believes and what he coaches for his junior lifters and it works. I was pretty strong and technically sound when i went to him for help and this is what i have been doing. Just do the lifts and see how far you can get, then break them down once you start to see weaknesses. This is just one way of approaching programming and what my coach does. What has worked amazingly for me is doing 2 sessions a day. In the morning front squat and snatch, Then later on in the day clean and jerk and front squat. keep everything below 3 reps. i hope this helps and there is always other ways to approach the lifts

Thanks for the reply Josh. After reading a lot more, and searching for some beginner programs I found this: http://www.pendlay.com/A-Training-Syste … df_90.html and, and I am going to start with this programming and see where it takes me. Going to film myself and hopefully pay careful attention to learning proper form and keep getting better.
